Cage choices...
 

The SC is getting a full cage for the holidays. I've narrowed my options down to safety devices and kirkracing. A lot of feedback on safety devices, all positive. Not too many people are familiar with Kirk racing (www.kirkracing.com). Any thoughts?

Is this a DIY install? If not, it's often better (and cheaper) to get a custom fabbed cage...

Check out the cage options at www.cdoc.com They have them in stock from just bars to full cages. and they have them on the shelf. The company is located right here in Charlottesille not too far south from you.

I have a CDOC roll bar, and it's not the greatest thing in terms of fitment. And for a full cage, I would think you would want something that fit as close to the pillars, etc. as possible. Custom cages are probably cheaper then you think -- the main issue is finding someone to do it who is good, but isn't booked for the next six months...

What about DAS and Autopower brands? I've heard of Kirk Racing but I haven't seen there stuff.

SD is not bad for bolt/weld in. Autopower is not so good. Hand built is the way to go if you can get good hands to do the work. Fitment, how tight to the car is what to look for as well as where and on what the main hoop sits. If the car is going to be a street car and safety is a goal personaly I would not go more than a bar.

I'd like to install a cage in my car, too. We have the identical 911's -- non sunroof coupes. Let me know what you find.

My first choice is to have someone build an exact reproduction of Dave's cage, which is a thing of beauty (it's a reproduction of a factory RSR cage, from what I can tell). Keep us posted. ;)
