"I Was Seventh"
Did you see this video on Rennlist? Don't let this happen to you!

That is a funny video Bruce! So why did he have to wait? Did he accidentally flick the "pitboss" off?
|
His FATAL error was simple.
He qualified seventh, but he was gridded sixth. When the grid boss waved him onto the track, he pointed to the car next to him meaning to indicate "let this guy go before me". BIIIIIG rookie mistake. Grid boss sees this as a wave off, meaning "I am not ready to roll", and rightly held him until the next car in line and all other gridded cars were on track. The rule is: Roll when signalled. If you cannot roll when signalled, you will wait until the entire field has rolled. Its amazing he survived his charge up through the field on the formation lap. He should have been black flagged for this performance, and he's lucky he was not punted into the grass by one of the guys he was passing. Believe me, nobody anticipates a maniac charging through the field on the formation lap! Bloody hilarious video, produced by Alex Ratcliffe at King Rat Racing - a local VA guy who runs NASA's Honda Challenge series. |
That is one lucky moron! I agree with Tony, he's lucky one of the flag stations didn't call him in for the passing mayhem.

I was wondering about the passing on the first lap, too. Where were the corner workers? Funny stuff.
|
just remembering his chant of agony "I was seventh!!"..... has me cracking up
(I'm visualizing Charlton Heston in "Soylent Green") LOL |
 pretty funny...
|
hilarious! I/m a rookie, but I think he should have been black flagged. I guess club racing is not like DE. wicked funny.

"I was Seventh" ... it rang in my ears for hours after watching the clip the other day. Hilarious stuff... I too was amazed he didn't get hit in his charge through the yellow flaged formation lap.
