Very Low Clearance Floor Jack

My wife bought me a very low clearance floor jack from Griot's Garage. It works great, but when I went to load it in the back of the Targa for Watkins Glen I realized that it weighs approximately 500 lbs. Not good . . . I would like to get one of those ultra lightweight and very low clearance floor jacks.

Is there a place to buy one locally? If not, where is the best place to buy one on line, Harbor Freight? Any recommendations on brands, etc . . .

Thanks,

TD

Todd, I got mine from Costco, it's an aluminium kind identical to the one sold at HF ---> JACK
I'm taking it to the Glen you're more than welcome ot use it.

Harbour Freight does fine. Should be a store in your general area. If you are tight for room, there are usually a couple of dozen of them at all the DEs that I am sure you can borrow for little cost, usually a six pack would be good!

Thanks guys! I left that heavy jack up there in Watkins with my car, so if any of you want to leave yours at home, you can use mine (provided you help me load it at the end of the event :D )

Will this be the debut of the new car? I saw it at RPM under going even more mods last week. How about a report for those that unlike me “live only to buy Porsche parts”?

He he. No, it is still not ready. I took my 996 up for Zone 1 last weekend, and I have left it there for Potomac. That will be the last DE for the 996 if all works out well. I know it is stupid, but I had such a great time in the 996 at Watkins (good to have lots of torque in 7 YOOOWWWZZZAAA that is a lot of fun) that I was getting a bit sad about its imminent retirement to daily driver responsibilities. Seems like a bit of a waste.

I will be done with the mods on the 944 soon (none of which include power mods). My theory is to do everything I might want to do to it now so that I get the maximum enjoyment out of them and I get used to the car like that from day one. My hope is that, apart from maintenance, it will not go back to the shop after it comes out. LOL, right . . .

So was it looking good? It's coming along all right, isn't it? Assuming it is finished (it should be), it's debut will be at Shenendoah!

I've got the same one. I was going to splurge on a Craftsman alu jack but we saw this one at Costco and I went for it. Prettly light, but then again with my six-shooters and Popeye-sized forearms it would be. Could be a bit heavy for girlie men, though. My friends in the latter category usually get thier spouses/significant others to do the heavy lifting for them. ;)
