The SC passsed her last VA emissions test !
Well the day has come and the SC passed her last emissions test with flying colors. Going forward she will qualify for the 25 year exemption so it might just be time to start thinking about those SSI's
In case anyone is looking for some reference information, here are the stats from today's readings: LIMIT / READING 15MPH Test HC ppm 140 / 34 CO% 1.41 / 0.61 NO ppm 1097 / 313 RPM 2579 25MPH Test HC ppm 135 / 87 CO% 1.73 / 0.56 NO ppm 999 / 406 RPM2449 It's interesting to look back over the 3 emissions tests I have had while owning this car and to see how consistent the readings are. |
Why even bother testing at 15mph? Porsches only do that in the paddock. :D
Congrats! |
Congratulations! My '81 had it's last one last Feb.
Cheers, Rich |
Congrats! My '78 still had to go through NJ last year, but not now in Va. Mine even passed strict NJ rules with a sport muffler and SSi's
|
Lucky dog! I have the current one (overdue) then the ’82 is exempt!
|
what's the 25 year exemption? are you talking about antique tags? if you keep it on regular tags, don't you still need emissions? what i really liked was the dropping of personal property tax after 20 years
|
When I recently registered my '78 in Va I was told no more emmissions test regardless of plate type. Annual inspection is needed though, unless you go to "classic" or "antique" plates, which then often add a mileage restriction as well.
|
Correct - there is no emissions test required for cars over 25 years old.

Congrats Doug. I know how that must feel, especially after performing the rebuild yourself. More proof he did a Dorki-quality job.
I just got mine through smog test out here in California myself. I bit the bullet and put a high-flow Euro cat on before heading out here. I am greatly relieved. If I was looking at no more emissions testing, I'd head for the SSIs. |
Congrats...I have an 87 944 that is not passing NO at 25MPH. I had an Autothority Chip when I made my first attempt. I am going back tomorrow for round 2 after replacing the chip with the original. Any other ideas I should try? Will different octane ratings effect the reading?
