How can you tell if a cylinder is nikasil?
Hey guys,
Is there a way to tell my 3.0 Sc cylinders are nikasil or alusil by visual?, or would I have to take them to a shop for that information?. Andy |
Just lick the inside. If it tastes metallic it is one of the two. If it tastes like oil shame on you for actually licking the inside of a used cylinder.
|
Bill should know too. He has tested many sets of 3. :P

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH that hurts

I am done with licking things. The last time I licked something, it taste like rotten fish and blue cheese with the consistency of cottage cheese   .

We broke thread rules when we starting in goofing around before answering the question. Charlie comes through with content.
Charlie, what is with the red X? |

Andy, btw, My Alusils are stamped on the bottom of the barrell just next to the case. KS is the manf. What are you thinking about? If you need I have the tools to measure the pisons and cylinders to see if they are still within specifications. Oh yea, I have a spec book too! |
