Local MSD/Crane retailers?

Looks like I may have a Permatune crapping out. Since I'm *supposed* to be at Summit this weekend, I am looking for a local source for an MSD box or in the alternative, the Crane system. Any suggestions?

Edit: From what I understand, the Crane system requires a later style, electronic tach but the MSD can use an attachment which will allow me to keep my original tach, is that correct?

You won't need the tach adapter. Just split the points (or optical/pertronix) signal to go to the ignition input and tach. Since there is no current flow, the 12V square wave will easily trigger both at the same time.

Sorry, don't know of any local retailers.

Call MSD. They can probably tell you if they have local retailers.

There's a boatload of car places in Manassas that would probably have it.

Here you go Dave, click on that link. There are two places that sell them in Gaithersburg.

Call Minh at Pitstop in Alexandria. 703-212-0900. He carries them and sourced mine.

actually, that place is *most* convenient b/c I could swing by there at lunch but as Murph was in charge, turns out that Minh is sick today w/ no guarantee of being there tomorrow either.

It's a pity since when I was there in my "fender roller quest" I remember seeing the rpm modules and also some other MSD stuff on display.

The guy that's there couldn't even tell me whether he *sees* 6AL anywhere- in fact he doesn't even work there... just answers the phone. For what, I have no idea :?

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions, turns out one place close to Pari's in G'burg has what I need, we'll just see whether my "stuttering turtle" can fight the traffic quickly enough

Dave, Sorry you had trouble. Minh recently took over Authothority's operations, so his shop may be having some growing pains. I'd be surprised if he didn't have a 6AL in stock. But what can you do.

Dave R, Thanks for asking. I've had a lot going on these days and no time or money for the project. We've missed you at lunch recently. Big news on our page these days is the wife and I are moving to So Cal. She's taken a job out there and seeing as how she has the brains, education and income in our family, I'm taging along, probably in late May or June. Just got a contract on the house this week. So, I've got to figure out what to do with my longhood.

Wow, and I just thought you were hanging around on the hill killing time :)

Linda also holds all the face cards in our deck (except of course for the Joker). Don’t forget I have a trailer and a couple of extra motors if you get in a pinch to unload your LH

I take it the Carrera is heading west with you :?: Take heart, I understand there are a couple of OK tracks out west too 8) And “Dorkiphus” is available out there too so we can hear about your exploits :)

BW911 - Sorry to hear you are on the move, but how bad can moving to SoCal really be? Dont get an extra room, I will be asking for a place to crash. :

I am sure there is someone on this forum that would be interested in a longhood. Uh, me.
