Another newbie in a water-pumper!!

Yes I am a newbie here too.

Short intro:
Michael Ignosci
South Riding VA.
1983 944 Moss Green (hiding from the wrecking yard in my garage, currently not running damn PO! TB failure)

Hobbies: I've always been interested in cars, particularly the Porsche mark. Cycling and Computers/IT

I have been in the IT industry for about 12 years now. I moved to NOVA about 5 years ago for a job change from San Diego and am here to stay.

Looking foreward to meeting some of you soon!

BTW, Is there anyone here that has seen my car? The car was originally titled out of Texas. It has been in the NOVA area for about 12 years, it was in Dale City, currently it is Champaigne in color, brown interior, cookies and had a bad tint job. It was a re-spray from it's original Moss Green following a front end collision, lots of bondo and clearcoat was peeling. Re-upolstered rear seat, and replacement black front seats at some time. Anyone? I'll be putting it back together. The right way as I have time and $! Yes, many challenges ahead.

Welcome, Michael. How long do you think before the car is running again? What exactly is "TB failure"?

Timing Belt maybe? Welcome to the board Michael. We have some water pumpers around here for sure, that can provide some advice and maybe even some help!

Ahhh.. that makes sense. All I could think was "torsion bar". I know 944s haved them, too, but couldn't figure out how one failing would stop a car from running.

Thanks for the welcome,

Yes, it was actually an old neglected timing belt that failed. I picked up the car as-is, not running, I should have ran but I had just couldn't watch it go. The valve head is in the shop now. I should have it back in the next week or two. It is one of the few things that I wouldn't trust myself to do. As to on the road? Well maybe in a few months. Concourse? Doubt that will happen soon. Definitely not the prettiest of P-cars right now.

Michael
