caliper rebuild vs. replacement
 

Yesterday after replacing the front wheel bearings on my car, I discovered the the outer piston of the r/f caliper is sticking. The good news is that it is not frozen but it is very stiff. I am wondering what my best approach would be. Replacement or rebuild???? Eventhough my car only has 52k, with its age I'd mostly likely address both sides. I've already considered 930 upgrade but on Tues last week I ordered pads & rotors front & rear from pelican and am expecting them any day now. 101 projects make the rebuild project seem fairly easy. Can anyone comment on either solution to help me decide what is the best way to go?

Rebuilding yourself will probably do the trick and the kits are not much $$$. Might be a good investment to get bleeder valves, new hoses, and the short hard brake lines all at the same time. Probably less than $100 in parts total. (For the fronts)
Getting the lines will make it much easier to demo and you'll know you should be able to do everything in one shot.

Regardless of the milage time take it's toll on the rubber and in terms of rusting things together.

1st step is to push the pedal 1/2 way down and prop something against it. This closed the valve on the Master cylinder that goes to the resiorvor to keep it from draining and gettin air in the lines. If you are goung to scrap the old lines than cut them with tin snips and you can put a box wrench on the fittings and thus not round them off.

Thanks I may take you up on that. I plan on doing something very soon because as I stated my brake parts are due any day now. Any idea where I should go to get the rebuild kits or should I just use the typical web whores for my parts?

Probably a web purchase. The savings would pay for the shipping. I've found thelocal dealer (Rockville) doesn't stock parts anyway.
Olympic ib G-berg could probably get the rebuild kits in a day or so, but why not get it all in the same place!
You could even order now and maybe get it mid week.
