&*^%$ CV Washers?
 

Bolted the damn CVs in and read on another board that I was supposed to have put washers in there as well? Is that so? I didn't take them off at the drop so I don't recall if there was washers. I threw all the old stuff away so I can't check.

Pelican's catalog (not the be all end all tech source) shows washers but not for my year.

Say it ain't so. ... Then again, I guess I could break out the 18" extension I just bought...

It may not be so. My 79 is sans washers. Bolt length is critical and it is important to buy from a Porsche source by model and year. Here is where experience counts. Suggest you call Stoddard 800-342-1414. They will help you out with your problem and lighten your wallet. Use thread locker to install.

Aren’t to many bolts that don’t work better with washers. If they were there they should have been with the bolts. I’ve sen them with and without. If they aren’t laying around, leave it be for now and check the torque setting in a few miles. Remember, the real issues is whether or not you should have reused them :wink:

Steve - mine didn't have washers on them when I dropped mine either so I didn't bother sourcing any. I replaced the axles not to long after my drop/re-install and bought a box of 50 bolts from McMaster Carr for something like $10 (yes, they were the correct length and strength).

I torqued to proper spec and have yet to have one loosen and I check them before each DE.

Mine have been off at least 5 times, no washers, gaskets . . . . no problems.
