356 Speedster in this month's Excellence!!!!

This month's Excellence was a good read. This Speedster, and Max Moritz's 914-6 GT race car.

edit: Oh yeah, and a bunch of other 911 stuff

Yeah ... nice speedster. Pipes and I were guessing $40K alone in the engine, Motec, EFI, shakeout tuning .... wouldn't want to guess on the rest of the resto.

nice articles in excellence. but how 'bout the article on the cover car in Panorama? "here's a quarter million dollars, build me a dual purpose car"!

Saw that too. Should be seeing him on track in HSR next year. Wonder where they'll put him ... my guess is in the GTP (prototype) even though they were aiming for GTO (RSR types) where we run. Should be interesting if he can get the car to qualify for HSR or SVRA. Will probably be a tough sell to the Dir. of Competition now that the article has been published with the specs on the car / motor.

Jase,

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but remember a coupla months ago when the train killed those speedsters out in Ventura, CA?

This month's 356 Registry mag had a letter of thanks from the folks at European Collectables who owned all the cars:

"The black speedster was Nick Clemence's (owner of European Collectables - Coasta Mesa, CA) personal speedster. It was just finished before the Speedster anniversary event. We spent about 2 years building the car from all NOS parts. It was purchased for $50,000., and then with labor and NOS parts we spent another $95,000. on it and had about $30,000. in additional add-ons (Rudge wheels, body mount fog lights, hard top, GT gas tank, Nardi wood wheel, 7 day clock, stop watch on dash, etc). On top of all that Nick had a perfect set of Rudge wheels on this speedster that he has had for 10 years and spent 3 years just having them restored. Nick's Speedster was the vehicle that was damaged the worst."

Man....

Hey Keith:

It is magazine related ... just a different mag (appologies Justin). I read that article. I thought it was interesting to reveal that he had $175,000 in the car  I like / love my 356 but ... with that kind of change I could build a whole lot of race motors, do a HSR west swing on the left coast next season and have lots of pictures with trophy girls in 'em.
