A/C work?
Where, on a Saturday near Fairfax, can I get my A/C system evacuated? I wanted to delete it next weekend. Thanks.

You’re just looking for ways to spend money! You can do this yourself, simply loosen the fittings at the compressor & catch the “stuff” in a big pan 8)

Ok, but I thought it was really bad to do that. I'm pretty sure it's R134, but still....isn't it bad to get that stuff on your skin or paint?
|
that's what the pan is for

Think of your kids, wearing gas masks outside... |
Is it charged with 134A or as was used in 83 R12? R12 is BAD for the enviroment and should be recovered. I do not have recovery/recycle equpment other than a vac pump. Some shops will recover it for free as it is worth $ to them and can be cleaned up and stuffed in someone elses car. It is no longer made in the US and is the #1 $ value smuggled substance from Mexico where is is still made and sold. I think it is going for about $50 a pound. R12 cars produce 20% less cooling on 134A unless you change condenser, evap and compressor. Even then they take more HP to do the same work.
BTW. I have 30 lbs of R12 and no cars containing R12 left. (This is not an illegal offer to install R12 just a comment) |
