All quiet on the Dorki front

The Dorki forums haven't been humming at their usual pace. Where is everyone? On vacation? :?

What are y'all up to, anyways? I've been 993 engine drop boy. Replaced the dual-mass flywheel & the clutch components. Doing a 60k service while I'm in there. Engine lift hopefully this weekend. :D

Now come on Dorki's...WAKE UP!

EDIT: Jase's been awake the whole time, waiting on the next diaper change.

You didn't invite us all to the drop...kept all the fun to yourself. I have been too busy with the new garage to break anything on my own car and then have to re-fix it.

But I am representing the Dorki board at the Home Depot with my shirt collection. :)

Its been welding & grinding time!

My old basic steel trailer is now sporting a sweet new tire rack, fuel jug storage, reinforced fenders, and the authentic 'Mickelwaite Attenuators' - ramp extensions that provide aerodynamic downforce and defensive crush zones that protect against close following traffic.

Its now time for some finish grinding and paint, then some final skinning.
With luck, I'll squeeze in time to replace the front rotors and adjust weignt for PCA regulations in time for the club race.

Just fyi for any future engine-droppers, clutch-replacers: I'd love to assist. And you don't even have to provide me with beer! Plenty of tools and other mechanical experience; just looking to learn more about Porsches.

If I ever get the time to finnish, I'm half way through a top end and clutch replacement on my '82 sc. You are welcome to stop by!

I've been driving my car instead of wrenching on it.......I know, it wont last.

Hey Jim,

Are you going to be at the event at the Dulles Air and Space Museum on the 28th?

I was planning on driving the 74 Carrera and I thought you might want to take for a spin.

Jeff :)

Not much on the Porsche front for me.

Can't wait until the Oct. SP DE. Between now and then I'd like to change the oil and check/adjust the valves and head studs. Other than that the car is running well and, like Justin, been driving more than wrenching.

Been thinking about a cam change over the winter to boost 4k+ torque ans HP. We'll see.

The brass coupler bushings should be in by the end of Aug. so keep your eyes open for those.

Can't say for sure right now, Jeff. It all depends on me getting a bunch of stuff done by that weekend. In addition to the 993 engine lift & 60kmile service, I have new seats for the 73E that'll require me to fab mounting brackets, figure out how to anchor the seatbelts, modify my rollbar for DE use and install it, get / mount harnesses, etc. Oh yeah, I need to fit in a weekend trip to NC to visit our son. :D

I'm in Iowa right now, I'm not really sure if that can be considered a vacation  ! The drive was good until Illinois, there are some great roads in western PA, and WVA that had me crying for my SC. Charlie, I think I found some hillclimb locations  !
