Ball Joint Socket

It's time to replace the dreaded ball joints on my '88 Targa, and I'd really like to avoid paying $170 for the socket on Pelican. Any chance I could borrow one from you fine owners? Located in Alexandria and willing to send/bring beer,

Years ago (when I had a couple of G-body cars) I found a socket at my FLAPS that, although it was called something completely different, fit perfectly with the 4 nubs in the correct place, and it was NOT expensive. I'm not right around the corner from you, but would be happy to loan it to you or send you a photo of it to find one at an auto parts store near you.

Thanks for the reply! I'll shoot you a private message

I wish I could remember what they called it (it was NOT "Ball Joint Socket") because it was probably no more expensive than the gas round-trip from Alexandria.

It is for 4 wheel drive hubs.

Heat the ring up first and they almost fall off.

Yes, mine is an Autocraft, 2-1/4" with the 4 pins on the inside. It looks similar to this one:
