WHEEL CHANGE
I'd like to go to 17 inch wheels on my Euro 911Sc...has anyone made this change? I current have the stock 15 inch Fuchs on the car. Can I go to a 17x7.5 in front and 17x9 in the rear without any problems? Would I need a spacer? Roll the front wings? I'm thinking an after market wheel...can anyone help or suggest a link?

Charlie, this link to Bill Verburg's wheel info page should help you out, most of the wheel sizes are 17" unless stated otherwise:

Pari,
Thank you! The info is priceless! :D |
You're welcome Charlie, let us know what wheels you end up deciding on. I am going to get a set of Fikse, Ruf, or Kinesis wheels. I still haven't decided yet.
Here is another good link with wheel information that Dave Riley provided: http://members.rennlist.org/911pcars/WheelWts.html BTW: How did the oil change go? |
I'm sold on Fikses for a number of reasons. One, Radial tire is a local dealer and I like dealing with Paul and Sam. Two, they maintain track of every wheel they manufacture by a unique serial number that tracks to their ultimate suppliers in case of failure and also allows them to replace a wheel precisely. Three, they look pretty good, and they're very well made. The price isn't the cheapest, but it's not the most expensive either.

Why not a nice set of BBS or HRE's while you're at it.

After looking at Bruce Anderson's Performance Handbook, I found that I may be able to go to 8x17 215/40VR17 up front and 9x17 235/40VR17 in the rear without any problems...anyone disagree with that? Any try that size and found it doesn't work?
I haven't changed my oil yet - I have all the stuff I need. Current oil level is good, and color is good (recent change). |
Charlie,
I've seen people run a 255/40/17 on a 9.5" wheel in the back on a sc bodied car without rubbing issues. If you were to run the set-up you mentioned earlier. I'd consider a 45 series tire for the front not a 40. This should keep the overall diameters closer on both front and rear wheels. I'll put in a vote for the FM-10's as well. Ted Thomas |
Ted,
Thank you! Your info is right on time! :D Charlie |
if you want to get rid of the 15" rims, feel free to drop me a line!
