Great place to find the odd Porsche part

Guys, I was looking around for a place to find a less expensive oil cooler.
Late last night I remembered CarQuip, a Porsche speciality parts, repair
and race prep shop in Dever. This is the place I originally found the "T"
advertised. Anyway, they have a special on coolers.

Apparently, Behr is making them in China - $320 from CarQuip, versus
$800 at Tweeks and $937 from Pelican. They also stock other odd stuff
for older Porsches.

FYI

Great tip, Greg. We can never have too many choices.

Appearently, no one told Tweeks and PP that the coolers were being made in China

PP is kinda pricey on a lot of their parts nowadays.

Really? I haven't seen that. When I need parts, I Usually check them and Vertex. I ignore Tweeks and Performance becuase their prices usually aren't even close. Most of the time, the PP price is cheaper than Vertex. Don't get me wrong - I'm just as cheap as the rest of you guys and don't mind buying Vertex (esp since I get the parts faster). If PP is getting expensive, who's cheaper?

Be real careful. I had one from PP and one of the upper milled recesses for the 'o' ring had been cut 1mm too deep. It would never have sealed.

Dont forget Performance gives a 15% PCA discount. They usually ship quicker than PP too.

Here are a few others that are super cheap and/or sometimes offer free shipping on orders of over $50.

And my new favorite - the Shell station on Franconia Rd. He has a World Pak account and can get some stuff delivered on the same day. Just got a Mahle air filter for my 993 about 6 hrs. after I called him and for less than Pelican charges - and no shipping. Call Sammy there. He's the guy with the blue 993 C2S.

Maybe for good reason. Anyway, some of you may have seen a long
thread on Pelican about replica oil coolers. I've posted an update along
with a bunch of pictures. See this thead for all the details.

All I'll say about CarQuip is they sounded sincere. The old adage still
holds: buyer beware.
