Diagnostic Tool Recommendations

I'm currently looking for a diagnostic tool that can be used for diagnostics (engine, transmision, etc) as well as maintenance resets (service interval, oil change, ABS, Seatbelt, etc..) for Porsche, Audi and Ford. Thank you

It really depends on your budget and how thorough of a tool you really want/need. Some tools require you to pay a subscription for updates. I recently purchased a Topdon Artidiag600s. Its a fine $200 tool and has done everything I've needed for domestic and Japanese vehicles. No subscription either.

No personal experience with their multi-brand units, but I've used the iCarSoft Porsche-specific unit for the usual maintenance and diagnostics.

This is nice because (1) no laptop is needed, and (2) it works with 981/991 and newer, which Durametric doesn't (at least the last time I checked).

I've used both iCarSoft and Foxwell, and both worked well for diagnostics and, in the Foxwell case, some light programming. Both iCarSoft and Foxwell will let you add manufacturers to their devices. Both work well with 981s. And both are about the same price.

I'm using a Durametric for older Porsches and a XTOOL Anyscan A30M for newer ones. So far it has done what I need (reset oil light, reset tire pressure error codes).

I’ve had this one for about four years. Only car that it hasn’t worked out for is my sons 2013 Volvo throwing an emissions code.

I just bought a Youcanic and am very happy with it. Baltimore company, very responsive and helpful when contacted, and no subscription required. I also have a durametric and I haven't compared them directly, but the Youcanic seems to do most things. Used it to calibrate ride height in an airmatic benz, monitor trans temps for proper fill levels, reset can module codes, etc. Emailing reports, printing on my network printer, are nice touches. I would definitely buy it again. I especially like them being local and not a foreign company.

Icarsoft 2.0 works on my 955, 958(diesel) & 996, plus able to read most codes with other brands. Good product for the price
