selling srd's for pole positions
 

Anybody familiar with the Recaro pole positions, comfort, durability? I am thinking of buying a set.....check the parts for sale page for my listing on the SRD's.

I (and others here) have sat in both. What are you looking for? More room?, race shell reclining / non-reclining?. You said you sat in the SRDs for 12 hours ... what about them didn't you like? Have you seen / sat in the Sparco equivalent, the Milano (I think)?

My advice: sit in several different seats if you can. Each Mfg. has similar traits to their seats (recaros do X while sparcos do Y and Momos do Z). Personally, for my frame, I can't stand the momos. Back position is too upright and the padding built into the head-rest pushes my helmet forward...no matter how many pads I put behind my back. (non-adjustable Momo acropolis race shell).

Sparcos are nice but I have settled on Recaros (for race shells). I went cheap on the daily driver seats "DAD seats". Several Dorki have them in their street / track cars.

I found the SRD's to be a bit narrow across the back for my liking. I am alos concerened that I wont be able to wear my helmet without laying back into the seat. In the past when I went with a racing shell, I found them to be comfortable. The shells seem to hold me better through the shoulders. I am also a fan of sitting upright in the driving position. When I recline, I find myself either too far away from the pedals or the steering wheel.

I've been leaning toward Sparco Evo 2's for my fat a$s. But I sat in a buddy's C4S with Recaro Pole Positions and they were very nice. There's a new pair for sale on Pelican now for $900 total.

I saw those...very tempting, but I am thinking of leather.

If you’re going to use the seats for the track I’d advise against leather. We’ve used a set of sport seats that were leather for years & they just don’t get it done on the track. The other issue is leather requires some maintenance to keep it from cracking over the years. Anything you put on to maintain greatly reduces the effectiveness of the seat. But as always you pay’s your $$, you takes your chances :!:

You absolutely have to sit in the candidate seats to make the right choice.
They are all different. Take no notice of the 'seat A is better than seat B' talk unless you know for a fact that both these seats work for your body and application.

FWIW, the seat I bought recently was not even on my candidate list until I sat in it. Wanted an EvoII, but Sparco screwed up their ordering and they were backordered for two months. Tried the Kirkey Deluxe Roadrace seat, and was astounded. Far better [for me] than the EvoII. MNice thing about the Kirkey is that the cover is a separate piece - you can change or renew it at any time. Sure that you could order a leather cover, if that's what you want. Their stock covers are very nice - see David's note about leather for track use.

Your right about testing the seat. Those pole positions sure look good in leather!
