A Blessing in Disguise
Reposted from PorscheTalk:
A Blessing in Disguise Sometimes the way things work out, one can only be amazed. When problems pop up that upset our plans and totally disrupt an away event, it is only natural to be disappointed and even get down on yourself on the long, premature drive home. Then a miracle happens… At VIR last weekend, George and Maureen Williams were sharing their beautiful 993 as usual. Due to the winter storage taking its toll on the battery, it lost its charge and failed. The repair process did not go as smoothly as anticipated – in fact, the “magic smoke” was released from the confines of the voltage regulator and a couple other important bits, and it was evident that the weekend had been cut short. Had the repair been successful, it would have meant another couple of days in the wilderness of Alton, VA. Instead, George and Maureen commandeered the assistance necessary to get the car loaded on the trailer, packed up and headed home early. What was unknown at the time was that Maureen would need to go to the hospital for emergency heart surgery on Sunday – the doctors performed an angioplasty and inserted a stent. She went home Tuesday and I’m happy to report that she is doing fine. The Williams' approved posting this message, but have indicated that cards or flowers aren’t necessary. However, positive thoughts are welcome, and humor appreciated. Thank goodness for the battery problem and early return – it may have saved Maureen’s life! |
Wow, very fortunate. Best wishes to Maureen for a speedy recovery.
