My retirement project....

Ok so I'm not quite ready to retire yet but a friend of mine had this car he bought from an estate several years ago. It was started by a fellow who was in process of creating a hotrod but his demise left his widow with a completely disassembled car and a storage container full of new and used parts in tubs for his project. I have been intrigued by this car everytime I see it and I asked my friend if he wanted to part with it as he has more projects than he can complete. So he calls me and offers me the car and all it's parts for a very reasonable price so I bit. Now the proud owner of a 77 911S that will one day, hopefully by 2022, be my vintage racer.
So this is the beginning of another project thread but it will be several years in the making. From the pics you can see that the car was completely stripped and the gent had steel turbo front fender flares very nicely welded to the rear wheel openings. Also had a non-sunroof top welded in and whoever did it did a really nice job. I have started to fab up one of the $1 OGRacing roll bars that Mark was blowing out a few years back and will complete the rest of the cage myself similar to what I did with the 951. The 2.7 was supposedly refreshed and running well when the project started and it will go back in for now.
It took me two years to do the Boss Mustang from a similar level of tear down so I suspect this will be the same if not longer. This is my first old 911 build and the fact that I didn't take it apart leaves lots of questions and research. Attention to detail can be a handicap sometimes. I spent about 6 hours just going thru the tubs trying to categorize and organize parts of similar function. There were many, "What the hell does this do and where does it go?" moments. But that's the fun in a project like this. Just big, more expensive, puzzles for big boys. Wonderful therapy....
