Carrera tail hardware

I have to mount my carrera tail soon, and I was wondering what size bolts I will be needing to attach it onto my decklid. Is that all I need, the bolts? Thanks!

Pari, superglue! :D

So thats your secret Jon, I was wondering what those drips were from on your decklid. Good thing Charlie went easy on the 930S, taking that thing out for a spin!

I've helped mount a carrera tail before. It was factory kit and there were lots of parts in the kit...including a brace the goes on the underside of your decklid. It helps reinforce the sheet metal and prevents the bolts from denting the decklid.

Josh, any idea where to get that factory kit? Thanks for the help.

look into the requirement for the front chin spoiler if you have a "whale tail"

Secrets Revealed! Yeah, Charlie went waaaay too easy on it, only because we were running out of road. Kinda what I go through when I try to hit the 180 mark  Maybe once I get my new intercooler and 1bar Tial installed, I can get to that mark before running out of road.

Did you get your spoiler painted? Take some pics once you install that wing.

Since you're planing on lowering; I'm still working on lowering the rear. I got one side done and will do the rest tonight. Took me longer since I painted the spring plates and cover. PITA to put it back in though since the bushings are new. I had to pound that thing in. But its easy and straightforward as long as you have an angle finder and follow Charlie's and Vu's pics together with Marc Astore's instructions. Marc's instructions is right on and a lot easier to understand than the book. I'll ask him if we can place it on the tech area.

Thanks Jim, I heard about how imprtant it is to have a chin spoiler if mounting a tail. I got one for a great deal, needs a little refurbishing, but I'm hoping to have the chin spoiler and tail both mounted for the HPDC coming up.

Not yet, I am planning on just painting it myself, or getting my buddy Paul to do it, since my friend faked out on me. It pissed me off that he took two months to tell me the shop couldn't paint it because their paint machine doesn't go back to '79. I guess thats what I get for going with a Bimmer paint shop. Anyways, I'm hoping to have the paint done by the end of next week, and have it mounted by next weekend.

I'll try to stop by over at Leesburg soon, I just looked in mapquest and you are only 22 miles from me going through whites ferry. My first project priorities are replacing an oil line, getting the tail and chin spoiler mounted, rewiring the fuel pump relay socket, and if I'm really lucky, finally get to installing the gate shift kit. After all these things are taken care of, then I will get low!! What a fun weekend it will be, I just hope the weather cooperates. !
Anyone have an idea as to where I can find a kit to mount my tail???

Which oil line? Thanks to Tony K. we now have the "tools" to fix the long oil lines to the front cooler that keep getting crushed by jacking the wrong way. At $300 apiece, it may be worth a try?

Dave, it's the right cam oil line on the motor, the one with the hose clamps.
Here's the thread on Pelican for the Carrera tail.
