High Performance Driving Clinic (HPDC)

Got an email from PCA Potomac about this event. They state that it is a prerequisite before they let you register for any DE's. I've been tracking my cars with different clubs since about '95. Is there a way to get around the prerequisite? Doesn't seem like a lot of what I don't know will be happening there. Plus, since I'm new to the area, I haven't had a chance to bring my car down here as well. I do have a Time Trial license, but it's from a New England club. http://www.comscc.org/ Anyone that's involved with local PCA, do you know if it would be honored?

Thanks,
dave.

I'm sure you can get around it somehow. Email Bob Novas on Potomac PCA about it and he'll give you a ruling.

Dave,

I have limited track experience with other clubs. This is my first DE with PCA and was allowed to participate w/o the HPDC prerequisite.

Just make sure to document your track days in your PCA Potomac DE profile.

Good advice - you need to do both.
- Add your previous track experience [days, tracks, clubs] on your Driver Info record on t Potomac DE REgistration syste,
- Drop a note to Bob Novas to reinforce the point.

You should be fine. The objective of the policy is to ensure that new Green drivers have had some initial training in car control and dynamics before they hit the track.

Thanks everyone. That's very reasonable advice and the solution I was hoping for. Now if I could only secure that parking space in my building... I've been itching to bring my car here for almost 5 months now!

By the way, how do these groups/colors break up? Where would it put me? All throughout, I've used VWs, Hondas, occasional BMW, and now the 911 in about 20+ track days. (3 w/ 911) I've visited Mosport, Lime Rock, Mt. Treblant, and NHIS. With this kind of background, where would that put me?

I just got my "accepted" status for the April 18th HPDC. The DE's will come later in the Summer/Fall for me.

Pari,
Once you've done it, I want to hear about it.

Steve, it's fun...come on out and get your feet wet. You can't resist the force of the dark side.

You should ask specifically to be placed with an Evaluation Instructor - these senior guys will give you an on-trck assessment, and place you in the appropriate group as space allows. You should be set for the weekend IF you get this arrangement made.

When is your first DE? If you are accepted for this weekend, then you need to get all the above done ASAP! Come find me on Saturday morning if so. I will be in registration around 7AM.
