OldTee, I had a good time BSing with you on Saturday. You got those bearings out in half the time it took me to do mine. Thanks for teaching me some new tricks, great tools BTW. That heater is really something else, it makes your garage feel like an oven. I hope to see you running with the Red group at Summit this year after we get your SC sorted out .

Pari, thanks for the kind words. Yesterday I tried to put new pads on the calibers and found that I could not retract the pistons all the way. In fact one felt like it froze up so I ordered two from Vertex. I could have done rebuild kits for about $60 but if the pistons were corroded from sitting a rebuild might cause later problems, like a leak at 110mph at the end of a main streight somewhere. I took the hubs to Rockville Ring and Bearing and they knocked out the larger race for me. I took those to Applied Industrial Technologies in Gaithersburg and they matched the numbers and had the parts in stock. You can take almost any bearing to them and they either have it, or will go to great lengths to find one. Rockville Ring and Bearing are going to press in the races for me to save me the hammering. It is always better to press them in, but beating the snot out of them works too, if you are carefull. I am glad that the Porsche is not my only car!!
Thanks for the visit. Maybe next time we will do heater controls!! John |
Directions to "Applied" hours?
Thanks! Glad it went well! Do you think there is any chance they would have the rear bearings? |
