Sparco Evo 2 Install

The install was a bit more involved than I had expected. I was figuring on just removing the four bolts of the factory seats and bolt up the new seats.

After wrestling with the Sparco floor bracket and sliders, the seat would not position well. It was seat was too high and the brackets were too narrow for the seat. Maybe they were brackets for Evo's not Evo2's? They're going back to OG. Good thing I had already asked Mark if they would take them back if it ended up not working. Saves me $150 too!

Anyway, I made the decision to mount the seats directly to the floor. This method gave me the perfect seat position and I actually gained headroom. The only drawback is that the seats are fixed, no adjustments fore and aft.

Finished up about midnight last night but sat in them for about another hour....amazed at how nice they feel.

Looks good Vu 8)

BTW, it sure is a slippery slope, isn't it?

Vu,
Very nice! Keep those stock seats for when (if) you sell the cab.

Vu:

Looks good.

One thought: you mentioned that you mounted them to the floor. Does this mean through the floor with bolts? If so I would recommend two things:

1. The through bolts "should" have a washer / plate on either side of the floor pan for added strength. Otherwise, you might find yourself strapped to a seat that is no longer attached to the floor and bouncing against your roll bar.

2. Use Por-15 to prevent rust where you drilled through the pan and rubber grommets for added sealing.

Great job Vu. Those seats look fabulous in your cab. Did you buy them locally? What happend to the DAD seats, not good enough? I hope to find some reasonbly priced evo2's or recaro pole positions(Hershey ) for my SC.

I sat in Sparco Evo 2's a couple of weeks ago and loved the way they fit me. I lucked out on this pair....they came from Oklahoma...brand new.

I mounted them using the factory bolts and nuts that held the factory seats. Didn't half to mount through the floor just through the floor rails, just like the way the factory mounted the original seats.

Vu: was just trying to help you prevent a LARGE headache when you went to your first DE and / or tech session with them installed.

Thanks Jase!

Hopefully you can take a look in person at how I mounted them. I think they should be fine.

Vu:

I have DADs mounted in my Targa (on Aluminum plates) and they are a little to high (even for a vertically challenged guy like me :)). Have recaro mount for drivers side in the 356 and a "homemade" angle iron passenger (non-slider) mount. At the next get together or perhaps next weekend (after this one) you can check them out if you like.
