and I would gladly trade some of it for your tub!

I THINK he still thinks of it as a car, not just a starting place for a tube-frame race car....

Hey I'm keeping an eye out for a Karmann project car for you! After the 914, I wanna see what you can do with a 356!

So do I! The plan. Split rear end and widen entire back of car rather than flare. Install tube frame, remove door hardware and weld the doors shut. Start cutting and don't stop until the scale hits 1600. Cram in a hopped up 1720 bolted to a 901.

The problem. A lot of other hacks have the same bad idea and the odd little notch backs are getting hard to find

 You mean that's been done before?

Seriously, I've heard of popping the lid off to make a cab, but splitting the rear for widening? You gonna need the 'jaws of life' for that?

Re availability, you may be right, I haven't seen many in the week or so I've been looking, some real nice ones, but few project cars.

There's a 356 Coupe (not a Karmann) sitting in a body shop parking lot in Hamilton, VA just rotting away. Breaks my heart every time I see it. Wish they'd do something with it. It's pretty much gone, has been without glass and sitting outside for so long.
