2004 PCA Potomac DE Database

Linda finished reworking the 2004 Drivers Education registration/database application & posted it to the PCAPotomac.org web site last night. She's asking that the Dorki track junkies “beta” test the new procedures for her? All you need to do is log on, follow the instructions, update your records & report any problems to her at Linda@teamriley.com Yes, it’s still to early to register for an event but your help would be appreciated. Better to work out the kinks now than at 12:00:01 AM when you are trying to register for the first event!

If you haven’t registered before, but plan on participating in 2004, now is a good time to get an account set up too. Go to the DE page & follow the instructions for first time users. Report any problems w/the system the same way.

David:

We'll gladly be the "guinea pigs" if it improves the DE registration process. :)

I need to register anyway. I'll check it out this evening.

Dave - please let the Mrs. know that I just logged in and moved around with ease. Initially there was a slight delay as I was re-directed to the new URL but otherwise all seemed to work smoothly.

I/we all appreciate her hard work and efforts and look forward to an enjoyable 2004 DE season.

BTW, any chance us Dorki can get an early enrollment period ?

Linda’s told me she wont “massage the system” for me so I’ll be setting my alarm clock for 11:50 PM 60 days before each event like everybody else!

Found a bug, which Linda fixed within a few hours of sending her the details. Great [and dedicated] developer, great system.

You guys who started DE in 2003 can't possibly imagine how rugged the old manual system was. Linda single-handedly implemented the on-line system over last winter. It rocks!!!

Linda reminded me that the server is located in a different time zone! Guess I'll need to add one extra hour to the alarm clock.

"Server's in a different time zone" ... By adding an extra hour you mean it opens at 1:01 am EST?

Also, what happens if you try to register before the 12:01 (or 1:01) time?

If you check the DE page, the events are listed & just to the left of the event is a “padlock” icon. At 1:00.01 AM Eastern Standard time, 60 days prior the event it changes to a “pencil” icon. When that happens you can click on the pencil icon & begin the registration process for the selected event.

Thanks David - appreciate the insight.
