HANS device for 3 point belt
Hi Guys,
I participate in 4-6 HPDE weekend per year with my almost bone stock car. I was wondering : 1. Did anybody experience / try The Simpson Hybrid S (formerly Head and Neck) for 3 point belts? 2. Simpson claims that this is the only device tested for 3 point belts. I was wondering if this is a marketing "trick" to direct you towards the Hybrid S($1,100) vs the cheaper version Hybrid Spot ($599) ? Links for both: http://simpsonraceproducts.com/hybri...lt-compatible/ http://simpsonraceproducts.com/hybrid/hybrid-sport/ Thanks for your help |
I would recommend giving OG Racing a call.
Long-and-short is that a true HANS (brand name) is not certified with 3 points. Other H&N restraints (like the Simpson) may certify since they strap to your body. Seems to be better than normal but even Simpson will recommend running with belts. |
Welcome, stranger. (how about an intro?)
Suggest you spend a few minutes searching Dorki, as there have been multiple threads the last few years about the Simpson. |

I wonder why more instructors do not opt for that option driving in a student stock car? |
Likely due to the lack of BSF stats with 3 point systems

https://youtu.be/30mjEbQ7RbY I'll be moving to a 6-point harness and decided to go with the Simpson Hybrid Pro vs a HANS for various reasons (no chance of the belt sliding off the HANS, works to some degree on lateral movement and less pressure on the shoulder). Here is a good video comparing the Hybrid and HANs. https://youtu.be/WiJgFlQrYhE I'm novice I suggest doing your own research and take advice from experienced drivers. |
