BMW key replacement

Lost a key, 2008 328i. Internet says dealer only, around $500. Anyway to do the less expensively? Or cheaper. Thanks for any input. Steve

Last time I did it on an E36, it was about $70 for the key. As far as I know, dealer only.

I did buy an Ebay key for a '03 Volvo, then had to have it programmed to the car for the remote...around $250 for keys and Fob....

Right rip off if you ask me...its a key...please take my car.

I had to get another key made not too long ago. BMW of Rockville. Don't recall the exact cost, but it wasn't anywhere near $500.

Thanks for the replies. Called BMW in Milford DE and under $250. Going rate from what I can tell. Much better than $500. Like usual, I have no one to blame but myself for the lost key. Steve
