Whahappunned?!

987 electrics went whacko for a couple days, one window going down to the convertible stage, engine management way off, idiot lights.

Now perfect.

Not wet inside or out!

Seen this?

My 986 electrics went whacko for months (flickering engine temp, abs, low coolant, brake wear) and there was this weird salad dressing smell and it was the alternator.

Asked the Porsche techs and they said low voltage can cause all kinds of odd actions and lights. Battery, bad alt bad connection bad switch and the like.

x3 on voltage too low due to battery, alt, whatever. Had the same electrics are going crazy experience on my old 996, and it turned out to be low system voltage due to a failing alternator. Replacing the alternator made all the electrons happy again.

Could also be just a bad/loose ground strap (hey, I'm an optimist!).

Just curious...what kind of salads do you order?

I'm betting salade nicoise

My point was that it was not an electrical smell. It smelled vaguely of olive oil...which made me think it was maybe power steering fluid (which would taste gross on a salad).
