Clutch pedal adjustment to new mc on 260z
Hi everyone,
I replaced my clutch master cylinder and I'm in the process of adjusting the pedal per the factory manual for my 260z. "Set the upper surface of the pedal pad 8.9 in or 226 mm from the metal surface of the toe-board. Do this by adjusting the length of the master cylinder push rod." "The pedal arm stopper should be free" "Now reduce the height of the pedal above the floor to 8.78 in or 223 mm by screwing down the pedal arm stop. If correctly carried out, the pedal will now have a free travel of 6 to 12 mm (0.24 to 0.47 in.)" What confuses me is when I screw down the pedal arm stop wouldn't that pre-load the master cylinder? I know I am missing something simple here. This is my first time replacing and adjusting a clutch mc. Any feedback help is appreciated. Thank you. |
This Z forum post seems to illustrate a possible issue. The recommendation/response is to simply adjust so you have a small amount of free play, with pre-loading the MC.
http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/1250...ent-to-new-mc/ Then just insure the clutch has released fully when the pedal is depressed (trans in gear, pedal depressed and try to start the car; if car doesn't move, clutch should be working ok.) |
