It's Official: Engine Drop Party on 11/15
 

Gentlemen: the time has come for another one of our NoVa garage parties :)

As most of you know my old girl has three broken head studs and after a season of DE's and Fun Runs it is now time to try and fix her. As always, everyone is welcome to come by and hang out, observe, BS, learn and oh yeah, maybe even get your hands a little dirty :wink:

The date will be Saturday, 11/15, and the location will be my garage. I'm in Herndon (less then 5 minutes off the Toll Road) and will be looking to get started around 9 am. I'll do the customary work (ie, jacking, oil drain etc...) the night before so we should be ready to roll on Sat morning. Right now my plan is to drop the engine that day and then spend the next several weeks (hopefully not months :roll: ) doing the necessary rebuild work. The overall objective is to have it all back together and on the road for the first DE of next year.

Please let me know by responding to this thread if you'll be able to make it - I'd like a headcount so that way I know what kind of food and drink will be necessary. Directions will be posted closer to the drop date.

Man, I'm so bummed to have to miss this one. I'm afraid Doug won't get all the necessary stuff done without my onsite advice and counsel. Just think how close you'll be to everything when you get those heads off. Take a ride in Charlie's car and then tell me you want to leave yours stock. I'll be drinking beer in the Fatherland when you guys are having the engine party. I'll be there for the reinstall though.

I can pass tools to people who actually know what they're doing, be the coffee/donuts gofer, and generally provide moral support...

I should be in for this. If you need some specialty tools (i.e. oil line wrenches, etc) let me know.
