356 Registry East Coast Holiday

Heading out of town Thursday morning real early with a wagon train of 356's driving to Asheville, NC for the East coast annual gathering this weekend. The event's been sold out for months, but will include 250-300 cars, and about 500 people. There will be driving tours on Tail of the Dragon (hairpin alley), concourse event on the lawn of the Biltmore and swap meets etc. Can't wait.

I bought a new .050 dizzy for the '64 and still need to drop it in and set the timing tomorrow, hope all goes well.

Dawn and Matt (wife/son) are gonna chase us all in the 996...said something about air conditioning and defrosted windows...wimps...

In our group; a '58 Speedster, a '65 Cab, a '62 Roadster, and two twin '64 Coupes. Should be fun, will take some pictures. :D

Keith:

Have any pictures to post? Did you make a comment somewhere else on the boards that you had to get a tow / flatbed back? What happened?

Would love to see some pictures if you can post them :)

Thanks,

Jason

I took lots of pictures. I'll post some here when we get power back on (2 days and counting). Thank goodness for battery powered notebooks 'eh?

We had a great time. I loved driving the '64 down to Ashville and back. Dawn (wife) followed me down in the caravan with the '99 996. While she was driving the car it had a stuck thermostat which in turn over pressurized the cooling system and cracked the overflow tank. That's the long way of saying, it started to leak like hell. Luckily for us it was in Ashville, and while we dropped into a resteraunt to get a bite to eat. Another bit of luck was all the Porsche people with trailors. A good friend Phil Hartman was kind enough to offer his trailor, which he vacated of it's '59 Conv't D to make room. Phil and I drove back in our 356's while the girls drove back towing the 996.

Had a great time however. I heard ALL the jokes let me tell ya, the aircooled motorheads sure got a good laugh at my expense over that one.
