To Simonize or not to Simonze
 

My mom just bought a new Volvo and the dealer is trying to sell her an $800 simonze package - both iniside the vehicle and outside. My mom thinks this sounds like something good to buy. I know what my opinion is on the product and the price, but since this is a family issue I am looking for insights from board members.

Has anyone here had this Simonize done and what was your experience?

Never buy any "add-on" package from a dealer. These should be labeled as "added dealer profit."

It's one of those deals where the sales guy gets a nice chunk of the sale. If she's impressed with the products, why not buy direct and save a ton? https://www.simonizdetaildirect.com/...cial_Packages/

Or, buy whatever cleaner/protector you like at your leisure.

Not necessarily true on all accounts but I, as a dealer, wouldnt put simonize on your car. Things like the wheel and tire insurance, pre-paid maintenance and a clear bra do make sense.

This. ^ anything that comes out of a can or bottle and gets rubbed or sprayed on is money in a can.

As to insurance. Stop And Read The Fine Print. The big print giveth and the little taketh away.

Come in the day before the end of the month and figure out what you want as to the car and add-ons. Cheese everyone off to no end by gathering up the numbers on the deal and the paperwork on the the add-ons and going home. Come back and finish up the deal after reading and sleeping.

Not much sense.

Depends to some degree to her personal circumstances as to the add ons. If on her own, and relying on dealer maintenance to take care of everything, some add ons make sense even if they are perks to the sales people.

We purchased wheel and tire insurance when we bought our M3 and it did pay for itself.

Simonize I'd definitely pass on, however.
