garage open for play

Well it’s been nearly a year in the works but it looks like our garage is about complete! Actually, the structure has been done for about 2 weeks but there hasn’t been any way to get to it. But if :?: :?: :?: all goes well the last of the new driveway & curb cut will be done today!

A little history: Linda & I started the process last April by looking for building plans on the internet a making a wish list. We knew we wanted a large 2+ car garage, w/plenty of AMPS, 2 post lift, ample overhead room (minimum of 9 ft. walls), hot & cold water, plenty of natural light & a very tough low maintenance interior. Overall we’ve exceeded all of these, except size. The county board of zoning, bless their politically appointed hearts, turned down our application for a variance that would have placed the garage on the inside corner of our lot. A position all our neighbors favored in writing. This only took them 9 months!

To balance that bit of insanity, the salaried county employees gave us a VERY favorable ruling on side yard clearance. Allowing a 24’ x 24’ garage w/rear access to placed right in the middle of the back yard!

So now what? I still need to clean & paint the floor but that should be done by the weekend. Then there’s Easter, Hershey/ DE Tec, & then Mid Ohio. That makes it the 2nd weekend in May? What say you to an Open Garage party? Rich Lee has already volunteered to safety check the lift, maybe Marc will share some of his recipes? How about it?

Woo bloody hooooo - I'm in!

Congratulations David & Linda, this sounds like a most excellent new facility. If my pulley oil seal leak is not fixed by then, maybe I can book some time to take a look at it.

BTW, does anyone have a P-216 front [pulley] seal installing tool??

I used an old bearing half, might still have it.

Dave, Congratulations. That sounds terrific. I'll bring some beer!

Congratulations Dave & Linda!

Which day is the event, Sat (5/10) or Sun (5/11)? Right now I'm open for either and would love to swing by.

Dave:

Congrats on what I know was a very frustrating experience.

Sunday the 11th works for me, but in the words of Steven Segal . . . "I'm just a lowly cook"

Can't wait to give the place a look see.

Marc - that cook did pretty good for himself because if it is the movie I'm thinking off then he wound up with the blonde that jumped out of the cake, right?

Congratulations!! I can't wait to see it, either day works for me.

I'm probably doing the PCA winery tour on the 10th, so the 11th is better for me.

David and Linda,

Thats great news, I already have garage envy. The 2 post lift sure beats the latest addition to my garage....a picnic table :?

Congratulations!! Can't wait to see it....
