Site Slow?

Charlie, Geoff, Members--

Seems to me like the site is still slow. I've got DSL and it loads like 56k. Definitely was way faster a few weeks ago. Anybody else notice?

For me, the pages serve fairly quickly, but there is a longish wait between invoking an action and seeing the page served.

If I can get an IP address to ping, I can test to see if the delay is outside of your server.

That's a better description of what I'm seeing.

Also, getting lots of blank pages when I try to go follow a thread or post.

Me too - it's actually become as slow as my 3.0 SC was this past weekend going down the front straight at SP.

BTW, I continue to get lots of "WEB SITE NOT RESPONDING" messages so I have to go back and then try again.

Slow site woes

I will contact the ISP again. If this continues to be a problem I may have to switch service providers.

In regards to the slow-ness I don't think it is a code error on the part of the board... this board is being used all over the place and runs great.

I don't think it is a latency issue with the mySql database either since that is generally fairly quick.

My initial guess is that the server is getting swamped because it is a virtual domain and not on a dedicated machine...

Anyways well see what I can dig up...

I think it may have been my fault... I have put a fix in place. Please repost here if slowness continues...

Geoff,
Page serve latency down to sub-second worst case, based on some thrashing around in the last few minutes. Pulled some old threads, a search - all good. Looks like you have nailed it.

Nice work Geoff - many thankx!!

Geoff,

FYI: When things were slow I was getting successful and quick ping replys from the ISP. Traceroutes showed direct routing, no loops or latency. In times of slowness, www.dorkiphus.com was slow as well, not just this board. It very well could be (have been) an issue from their internet facing router/firewall inward to the hosting server. It may have been the fix, or the bug in ISP's ear. What ever it was, looks good now. :D

Problem appears to have been fixed as the site is very responsive this morning.

Thanks!
