PCA Meeting 2/24 Guest Speaker

Not sure how many of you are into the vintage racing scene, but apparently Wayne Jackson is going to be the guest speaker at the next Potomac region meeting on 2/24.

Wayne has an amazing stable of vintage cars, including the famous #3 Martini & Rossi Sebring winning 917K.

It's on my calendar and just thought I'd call it out in case anyone else is interested in attending.

Doug:

I'll check the calender as I would like to go.

Yeah, That's definitely one meeting I'm going to try and make. Here is the meeting announcement from the PCA:

Special Guest Speaker: Wayne Jackson
Title of Presentation: Legendary Porsches of the Modern Sports Car Era
Driving & racing perspectives from a (fanatical?) Porsche enthusiast

Do you know that one of the country's most accomplished Porsche
drivers/owners is a member of Potomac Region? Have you been to Summit Point
or VIR and seen legendary Porsches that until then you had only read about?
Many of us have had the pleasure of meeting one of our most prolific
members, Mr. Wayne Jackson, at one of these events. You may have even had
the chance to ride in the #66 Sunoco Porsche 966 if you had the winning Laps
for Charity bid! I think those grins are permanent!

I hope you'll all come to hear Wayne's presentation. You'll see photos and
hear first-hand stories about these fabulous cars, and what it is like to
drive, race and own them. From legendary 917's, 935's, 956's, 962's,
GT3CUP, GT3RS, and most recently the Fabcar-Porsche Daytona Prototype that
he tested in preparation for the Daytona 24 Hours.

For those of you who haven't had the chance to meet him, Wayne is an amazing
person. An accomplished business executive by day, he is a true gentleman;
at the track he is always approachable, sincere, and genuinely nice. He not
only has the experience to provide incredible insights into the specific
nature of each car, but also the finest collection of rare Porsches of
anyone I know. But what really sets Wayne apart is that he is an honest
Porsche enthusiast, and he is generous enough to contribute his time and
interest with those who share his passion. Wayne not only collects these
precious pieces of Porsche history - he drives them! These are not strictly
museum pieces, though many deserve their rightful place in Stuttgart, they
get exercise!

One particularly memorable experience occurred at VIR last year. Imagine
this: you're lined up in the right lane of the false grid, when Tom Trew
yells through the fence "Make sure you watch for the 917!" My immediate
reaction - "Yea, right!" Like there would be a 917 at a Potomac DE. Tom
again yelled "No, really. They are very low and hard to see coming up on
you!" Again, I laughed. Then I looked to my left. There it was. Wayne in
his Martini + Rossi Porsche 917!!! Tom, I'll never doubt you again! While
in the paddock, Wayne's genuine generosity really showed. As people were
admiring the 917 and 962 from a respectable distance, he allowed them to get
an up close look at the car. Some people had their photos taken with the
cars, and I think one lucky person was even allowed to have his photo taken
sitting in the car! Thanks, Wayne!

Hope to see you there!

Good deal gentlemen. Hopefully you can make it and we can catch up there.

I saw that and definitely plan to go.
