Engine Drop Party - 02/15/03
The tentative date is Feb. 15, 2003. Two weeks should give me enough time to finish insulating the garage and prep the car for major surgery.
Hopefully all that will need to be done on the 15th is physically drop the engine, separate tranny and lift engine onto the stand as I plan to have most of the prep work complete before then. All invited. Beer, coffee and lunch will be served or delivered. Keg of Pabst anyone  The Garage of Warmth is located: 4205 N. 25th Street Arlington VA 22207 Not too hard to find if you are used to the confusion of Arlington. more info to follow.... |
I think I'm available on the 15th. It'll be fun to work on a car other than Richard's. :P
|
Don't speak too soon Jim - lots can happen between now and the 15th
|
I'll come only if I can index the spring plates
Tony is right . . . 2 weeks is a lifetime for Richard's car. Jim: That will change now that you have an eggplant. |

Charlie, That's the weekend I'll be tearing around VIR with the Zs. I'll think about you though.
Marc, Shouldn't Richard be about due for another engine drop about then? - Bill |
It's on my calendar so hopefully I'll be able to swing by and lend a hand.

Bill,
I'm going to try and set up some kind of live streaming broadcast of the drop party via the internet through Dorkiphus.com. I'd like to test out some new streaming software, seems to be a good time to try. So if you are digitally connected at the hotel, you can check up on us;) But I'm sure you'll have more exciting things on your mind. Have a blast....and break HARD at the end of the back straight  -Charlie |
Uh hum, I think we've dropped Marc's engine(s) exactly as many times in the last six mos. as we have done with my car. Hey Charlie, just for kicks, let's see if those Sway Away's I couldn't use will fit in your car.

Brake hard, but brake late
Bill/Charlie,
Many people [me included, although I'm improving] brake way too much and too early at the end of the back straight. Must be something about the combination of 130MPH + and a blind uphill left followed closely by a sharp downhill right! Bill, drive conservatively! There is much to learn at VIR, and getting ragged can be expensive. Better to enjoy it without scaring yourself [and your instructor] witless. BTW...the later you turn into the uphill esses, the better. Done right, they become an almost straight shot. Wish I was going....... |
