Weirdest 928 question

well maybe not the weirdest, but definitely weird... I thought of it because I've seen several on the road recently. When I see photos, the 928 doesn't do much for me, but every time I see it in person, I think it "Wow, those look so awesome, gotta get one some day." So my question is, is it possible for a car to be 'un-photogenic' and look awesome in real life?

Me too. And the sound of one of those going by when it is being worked. Yowza.

Back to the OP, I always thought the 928s butt looked HUGE in photos. Like ghetto booty huge. But in real life they look good.

928s always seem closer to the road in real person. They alwasy looked like they had a Dakar Rally suspension in photos. I don't know if that was due to wheel well gap, or the old flat wheels they had.

I think the early ones ARE Paris Dakar height. The lack of flares accentuates that. Probably like the 911s of the era, they are later lowered.

Unlike the 911, I don't think you can look at the older ones and find them attractive when you have a newer one next to it.

My old lady is 34. I think she looks very modern all things considered.

Moss Green Metallic - YUM!

I think the 928 looks better in the wild because 2 dimensional photographs make it seem larger and more bloated than it actually is. It is not a big car, but it photographs like one and those wheel openings don't help. I saw one in the real world on the New York Thruway in 1979 and was smitten. Eventually that led to this:

I haven't got tired of looking at it yet and it is a hoot to drive. A little bit heavy feeling around town but the faster and harder you push it, the better it gets.

My old man brought one home years ago to stuff a SBC into it. I thought the same thing .... another lost car of the 80's. Car grew on me. I like them now. Newer ones look so much better IMO. Ones the door ding protector is ripped off the lines look so much better.

"Who's the U-boat commander?"

On a somewhat similar line of thought . . .

How is it that I think this car is absolutely hideous,

But I think this one looks pretty cool.
