Congrats. Can't wait to see the 997 build thread

Decided to build (have built) a 997 H class race car. I know this is pretty much a DIY board, but thought some might be interested in a "checkbook" build of a race car. Intersport is going to do most of the "real" build, while I do the easy stuff. We are shooting to get it together in time for the Turkey Bowl in November if all the parts arrive in time. I traded in the 993 race car (if anyone is interested it will be for sale at Intersport) for a 2008 997 regular carrera with 30k Miles.

First off, this will be pale in comparison to what Vicegrips did in Adding Lightness from the Ground Up. It's going to run in Stock H, so modifications are limited (and work is being done by a shop.) Here's the list of what's going to be done:

Piper Rollcage
3rd Radiator
GT3 Rear Wing
GT3 Front Bumper/splitter
GT3 Rear Bumper
GT3 Brake Ducts Front
GT3 Brake Ducts Rear
GT3 Drop Links F/R
GT3 Swaybar F/R
GT3 toe links
GT3 Lower Control Arms
Front PCCB Calipers/Turbo Steel Rotors (same brakes as GT3)
Rear PCCB Calipers/Turbo Steel Rotors
Guard Limited Slip
Sport Clutch
M&M GS Conti Headers
M&M Custom Straight Pipe Center Exit Exhaust
Moton Clubsports
Rear Shock Monoball Mounts
Front Camber Plate/Monoball
Solid motor mount
springs
Subframe Solid Bushing Kit
Solid Thrust Arm Bushings
Carerra PCCB Front Wheel Carriers
Rennline Strut Brace
Fire Suppression System
Sparco Halo Driver Seat
Sparco Passenger Seat
Schroth Harnesses
Window Net
Kill Switch
Wheel Studs/Lugs (25)
2 Sets Formula 43 Wheels
Sparco Steering Wheel
Rothsport Quick Release
Pagid RS29s
Stainless Brake lines
AIM MXL Pista Data Logger
Replay Camera/Remote
Motorola Radio/Harness/Antena
Cool Suit
VBD Wrap

Picked up the car last night and had it stripped by this afternoon. Lost about 190lbs by removing Seats, Front/Side/Curtain airbags, carpeting, PCM/Nav, all interior trim. Unlike the 993, it only took a couple hours to remove the adhesive from the interior, where the 993 took days. Race seats and steering wheel going in on Monday so car can be fitted for a cage at Piper starting on Weds.

BTW, if anyone is looking for 997 parts, I have seats, wheels, full interior, PCM/NAV, exhaust, and other stuff available soon

Here are couple before pics of car

I like how the pulled out carpet still has the vacuum marks from the dealer.

I don't see a sub hole in the driver's seat. :)

Looks like it will be a nice car. But won't this be a prepared I car based on these mods?

Nope. All by the book. We had one or two questions and called Ray (PCA CR Compliance) to make sure it was allowed. PCCB brakes where a factory orderable option. We called Ray, and we are allowed to use steel rotors with them. Wing isn't actually the GT3 wing, but the Aero kit wing (same thing as GT3 but has one opening to airbox vs 2 for the GT3.)

pretty sure it stays stock as they were an option for this car. Edit=beat me to it (and i talked with ryan) when he tried to wreck the car loading it up for the first time.

LOL! When picking up the car, loaded it on my trailex and hood hit the crossbrace for the tire rack. 997 GT3RS sits 2-3" lower and fits fine. Had to pull car off and drive it home.
