1972 911 Turbo

I am posting this for Ed Bray, who works at VIR. He wants to sell a 1972 911 Turbo for his Dad. The car has modifications to the rear of the body (tail and rear fenders flared). The tires and wheels are not stock obviously. Ed was told that the engine is from a 1986 911 Turbo, but he is not positive on this because there is a plate over the flywheel that lists 1973. The plate is peeling slightly and looks like it was stuck on there by someone other than the factory. We attached a pic of the engine.

The car runs great, but does blow some oil out the tail pipe. He has been very careful not to run it low in oil. The car was originally purchased at a Penske dealership in Allentown, PA in June 1972. The original order is attached. The odometer idoes not but is shows He thinks it actually may be around 160K on the body. He has no idea of the mileage on the engine but from the service records he has it appears to have been rebuilt in 1997.

He is asking $20,000 OBO. If you are interested in this car, contact Ed Bray directly at 919-696-2050.

I have an email with some additional pictures I can forward to anyone that is interested.

I don't see no stinking turbo! I see a CIS injected motor. A definite repaint (back wall of engine compartment looks red) as well as some door jam spots. Look like 280ZX seats in there too... wow.. totally '80s interior! ;) I think 20K is a real hard reach for this car in this condition. I'd be thinking low teens, depending on how much rust shows up.

Not a 72 either, could be a 73 w/ some mods. Neat car.

Someone rubbed the "F" off of the air intake snorkle.

$20K is a little high for that car. $5-7K max if the chassis is solid and the tittle is good.

What happened to the horn grills?

Looks like they were 'fixed' when the widebody 930-slopenose rear fenders were installed...

Yeah, my guess is a '73 911T, not 911 Turbo, someone tried to turn into a later year car. Heinz 57
