Heinz (Darth) Running Well / VIR NASA Comp School
Ben and I are down at VIR, and I did the comp school today (I passed!). It was a lot of fun, but as noted by other Dorkis, I couldn't have done it without support from Ben. It's even hotter here than it was at Summit Point last weekend, but perhaps a tiny bit less humid (Ben, who didn't spend half the day in an air-conditioned classroom, doesn't agree it's any less humid). The car is a blast - still sorting it out and Ben was able to readjust the rear sway bars between sessions with excellent effect.
Ben also took it for the required dyno pulls: 200.23 HP to the rear wheels!! This is a stock 3.2 engine rebuilt (by IMA) about 30K miles ago. If I run tomorrow (see below) I'll need to run with a full tank of gas to keep in the HP/weight ratio for GTS-2 (need an additional 73 lbs over weight with empty tank and empty cool suit cooler).
Now the problem. After driving down yesterday and cranking out 4 40-minute sessions today, my right calf is very sore. I took antiinflammatories and had it in the hot tub tonight, but I'll need to see how it feels tomorrow. I can't walk easily and don't think driving would be wise unless it improves a lot. Offered for Ben to run HPDE (got the likely OK from NASA) but Ben said it's too hot. We'll see tomorrow.
