Hershey Prep Picnic - April 10th
Hi fellow Dorkis,
I don't post too much here but have met a few of you at various events. I'd like to extend an invitation to what I like to call "The Hershey Prep Picnic". This will be my 3rd annual and is usually a nice relaxing time to just get geared up for the annual trek to Hershey for the swap meet. It will be Saturday April 10th at my shop in Sterling VA. The address is 201 Davis Drive in Suite LL. Many folks will wash and shine, some change oil, swap wheels, blow out various cobwebs, etc. as this may be only the first or second time our cars have been out since winter hibernation. We'll do burgers and dogs, have some beverages, etc. I usually have a dent guy on site, my usual arsenal of detailing equipment and supplies, and new for this year, I plan to have an interior/leather repair specialist in attendance. My lift will be available for those of you who wish to put you car up for inspection and my partner with Exotic Car Specialties will offer free 125 point inspections and diagnostic software to check any trouble codes you may experience. We'll get started around 9am or so and you can pop by anytime and stay as little or as long as you want. Please post a response here as I'd like to get an idea of attendees just for a ball park head count and also let me know if you'll be bringing anything. - Darryl |
Hi Darryl,
Is this the same shop that we did the 951 timing belt/cam carrier job a few years back? I want to try and make this. I don't think I'll need to do anything but I'm always up to hanging out with other Porsche guys. Call me a tentative "yes". I know more as we get closer but as of now I don't see why I can't make it. Yes, Brian, same complex...but I've got a whole shop now dedicated to the car biz...in Suite LL, three doors down from where we had our impromptu timing belt get together!! Hope to see you Saturday the 10th.

Wow this sounds cool!! I'll have to check my calendar.

If my coupe is running and close to done (so don't count on me), I may bring the Targa down. I have a small ding I'd like to have pulled before I sell it. Thanks for hosting.

Adding to my calendar. I'd never expect an event in Sterling for Porsche owners.

Nice.. hope to be able to swing over with either the 996 or the Spec Boxster if it arrives in time. Just coming to socialize.

Bump for the weekend...
OK gang...essentially one week to go. I'd like to get a head count of people who are definite for food and beverage requirements. Those that are "maybe" should also let me know but I'm sure we'll have enough to go around! Also, updates as of today 4/2/2010 are as follows: Steve, my dent guy - is only about 20% possible due to his kid being on spring break next week and he may not be back in town for Saturday, but if he ends up not going anywhere, he'll be here and will let me know as the day gets closer. If anyone is seriously interested in dent work, please let me know and I will make other arrangements. Michelle, the vinyl and leather lady, has been in contact with me and is very much on board...just need to confirm a couple of things with her. I just checked the 10-day forecast and it's looking great. I look forward to seeing everyone one week from tomorrow! - Darryl |
