May 15-16, 2010 Schattenbaum at Summit

Schattenbaum will be at Summit Point on the main circuit in May. This is a rare weekend event for us on the 15th & 16th. Since it is a weekend I expect it to sell out. We will only have 4 run groups in order to maximize track time. If you want to attend I recommend signing up early to ensure a spot. Registrations are handled via motorsportdreg.com

Are they paving the entire track? When?

You have to find that 45 minute period after they reopen the track and before T1, T5 and T6 start to break apart.

Jens told us that they were repaving all the corners. He said they won't be doing the straights since those areas aren't breaking up. From what he said, it seems they really have contracted with someone who knows their stuff this time - the company has experience doing big NASCAR tracks. (Let's hope that pothole in the Daytona 500 isn't part of their resume!)

Hope they at least dig up the old crap and start with a good base! The last time they did just corners didn't work very well

Yes, let's hope so! Work starts Wednesday; maybe someone in the area can do some scouting on the process?

Jens told me they're leaving SOME of the old surface base, including concrete, but cutting it down significantly before laying the new surface over it. He also said this was costing about 10X what they've paid in the past...

Oh, and they're doing it either TOMORROW or NEXT WEDNESDAY (I believe it's TOMORROW) if someone wants to go out there and take pictures. He expects the process to last a few days.
