I just cut my PS Pump belt for nothing...
 

For starts, car's an 86 944 turbo, 112K plus miles. Belts/water pump done at 107k miles, oil cooler seals done like 200 miles ago(just in time too, got milkshake coolant, clean engine oil)

Ever heard that loud whining sound coming from your power steering when it's cold outside? Well, I have been hearing that for about the last week or so. This sound after my car has leaked ps fluid from nearly every component the steering system has, as well as Curry's recommendation that i get the system overhauled to remedy this. Well, I figured that by that sound, which i heard all the time the motor was on, and climbed in pitch with the RPM's, was likely the PS pump soon to give out, so today I just cut the belt, figured I would prevent it from exploding and damaging other stuff, aside from my sanity at that horrible sound...

So, belt was cut quickly and efficiently. I handily lowered the car, cranked her over.... only to still hear that awful groaning sound.... still.... And more interestingly, as I listened closer (which I should have done before) it really seems like it's coming from the center of my motor... maybe under the intake.

Anyone have suggestions, recommendations, willing to come by and listen to see if this is simple/expensive or hard/really expensive? (there is no simple/cheap with this f#$! car) I have no DD car, so if she s#%@s on me again, I'm in a bind... I will likely take her to Curry's tomorrow morning as soon as their Porsche guy is in, see if he can take a listen.

Double ribbed balance belt loose. Rubbbbin.

My a/c compressor whines when it's on. Is the button for the a/c depressed?

Tdatk: I'll try and have them check that tomorrow. All of my belts have been recently done, and this just started up a week ago...

smo: no, the A/C is off. I also JUST got the A/C overhauled.. new compressor, evaporator, lines, etc. it better not be the A/C..
