Youre supposed to use premium with the 88s even with stock chips.

Not that it isn't a good, idea, but seriously, you're talking about saving 2.5-3% of the price of a fill-up by going with 89 instead of 93. When you are at $3.50/ gallon, knocking off $0.10/ gallon doesn't do a whole lot for the wallet.

It actually would have been a better idea to try this when premium was $1.20/ gallon vs $1.10 a few years back, netting closer to a 10% savings.

you have a point, but I also have an intermittent issue with the car running really rich on a cold start and also sometimes not running right under heavy throttle in very hot weather. I figure before I start going nuts checking all the sensors that a set of stock chips might not be a bad idea. Also then I could see if they really did make the car feel any faster :)

If your are going that way with de-tuning check with your mechaniac. Also, talk to Oklaforeign to see if they have the parts you need.

Still looking...

if I could even borrow one for a while that might help

can someone tell me if there are any significant differences between 85.2-87 and 88 DME's?

thanks,

nate

Im pretty sure that the 88 DME will only work with an AFM from an 88. The programming in the DME is different, has ahigher redline etc.

Goshdarnit to heck, 'cause I think I had a line on an '87.

oh, well, thanks for the reply anyway, just next time tell me what I want to hear, mm-kay? (not really, cause then I'd be pissed when my car didn't run.)
