1984 944 GUARDS RED - Must Sell
All,
It pains me greatly to have to make this post, but a man must do what a man must do. My 1984 944 is on the market. It is in great condition and several of the Dorki's can verify this as they have seen it in person (Andy!!!!). If you are one of those champs, please chime in. I would greatly appreciate it. The car is all stock and has a little over 173,000 miles on it. I am the third owner and have every receipt for all work performed since the car was first put on the road (except where I changed the oil myself). This car was my daily driver and trust it completely. It has an AM/FM/CD player and is a 4 cylinder with 5-speed manual transmission. The only issue is the drivers seat has a tear in it, which has been there since I purchased the car. I have just not had the chance to bring it to an upholster company to repair. Here is a link to my "RideRoom" with some photos. http://www.rideroom.com/ride.php?room=162 Given the fact that EVERYTHING works in this car (including ice cold A/C) combined with the present good condition, I am asking for $3,500.00 ORO. I have a clean title and will take cash, money order, cashier's check, or PayPal. In addition, I am ready to come off this car immediately, so if you have the money honey...I've got the time! Oh yeah, I have printed out the shop manuals and Haynes manual for the car. Please call me at 703-980-2769 if you have any questions!! I work in Arlington and live in Lorton, so coordinating a showing will not be a problem. |
I saw Jason's car up close a while back, and it's definitely one of the nicer daily drivers still going. I've never driven it or anything, but it is surely one of the better examples....the pictures speak well!
Good Luck with the sale! |

People may be leery of buying a 944 they don't have much info about, as a lot of the catch-up stuff can add up to big bucks. |
Ahhh, well, I have only had it for about 15k and nothing MAJOR has had to be done to it. I maintain it pretty well. I hate to see it go. According to records, it still has approx. 15K before the Timing/Camshaft belts need to be replaced. Other than that, it is very sound.

Where else have you listed it? Mine isn't exactly flying off the shelf either. ;)
|
I literally just posted it on Craigslist. Although for a fair amount more than I have it listed here. I mean......really I can always come down from there, but cannot go up!!

Just an opinion. List it at the price you want to sell it for and price it for what it is worth. (that part is not easy) People who are looking don't what to deal with death grip dreamers. I see BS $ listings all the time. There was a welder I was looking for listed for $1200 with some extras. It sat and sat being relisted a time or two. I finally called the guy and made a fractional low ball cash right now and throw it in the truck offer and he bit. He admitted that he got few calls and the ones he got were all 100 questions, 0$. I bet that he could have sold it for more had he put the correct price on it to start.
Craig's list seems to be populated by pie in the sky price dreamers:roll: and time on my side, watch the poor bastard bleed out vultures like me  |
FWIW, there was a blue '83 944, that was stock and needed 1/2 shaft repair and general maintenance and its paint was in fair condition. He was asking $1500 and it sold in a day.
Problem is, who knows if it was just the axles and how badly other items needed attention. |
