FIOS DVR is stupid

So I finally get a chance to sit down and watch a much anticipated Rolex race that aired yesterday.

This is a big F U to Verizon FIOS because this is the 3rd attempt at recording a race on the Speed Channel that has failed. It recorded the first 1 1/2 hour broadcast and assumed the later part 2 was a repeat. IT WAS A SEVEN HOUR RACE :bang:

When I set the recording up it indicated that there were multiple showings but would not allow me to select both to record :bang:

You can forget using their new menu which they admit has some bugs. IF IT HAS FRIGGIN BUGS DON'T ROLL IT OUT!!!

The search function comes up with everything but what I type in and nothing is in alphabetical order which would lead a normal human being to believe that the program you are looking for is not on :bang:

Not happy with the DVR option and the new "improved" menu from FIOS.

It's good to rant but I'm still effin pissed

Recorded fine on my HD DirecTivo - I'm watching it right now :D

I did notice that the program descriptions were identical, word for word, between the two programs. So maybe it isn't all your inferior DVR's fault...

Thats cold. At least offer to let him come over and watch as long as he brings the beer. Tell him to wear the work-safe outfit though ;)

I would, but the last segment went long so it chopped off the last few laps

Looks like you 'll just have to keep watching the video of that black 911 that wouldn't give you a passing signal again tonight ...:D:lol:

Speedtv.com has the last lap in the video section. Awesome last lap. Don't know what happened to all the leaders but I guess there's always next season. FIOS D'bags

Its Speeds fault. They don't correctly tag most (any?) of their shows as first-run or repeat. Used to happen on my directv too. For speed, I just set it to record everything and take care of the repeats manually.

Yeah, the new DVR software is buggy as h*ll. I tried reporting some of them to the special phone support line they set up, only to get dumb responses from the lady at the other end "Its supposed to work that way". I wish they'd set up an email/forum so they could be reported and acknowledged intelligently by people who actually know what they're talking about.

If you can't watch 7hrs of coverage live, there is something wrong with you. Get your priorities in order young man ;)

The FIOS update is sucky and I called in on it. Among other little nags like erasing all the season pass programing you had set up it dropped a simple search method. Now it makes you scroll horizontally forward through the full menu 1/2 hour by 1/2 hour rather than a vertical strip list show by show. it also lost the slow motion function and you can only do a frame by frame by pushing the button for each frame. Thank god for TEVO. with TEVO you tell it to record all of something like road racing and it grabs it ALL. SWC, Rolex, F1, NASCAR, ARCA, outlaw, dirt trackers. Legends and more. The FiOS system seems to get confused that each F1 is part of the season pas and if not on Speed will not record. I have taken to spending 10 min or so a week looking for the stuff i want. Nice picture, good phone, great internet, suck ass DVR.
