FS - '95 Carrera in Atlanta area

A contract photographer who works for us -- I've known him for over 25 years -- says his mother-in-law, whose husband recently passed away, has for sale a red 1995 Carrera with 80k miles. He's asked me to pass this along to fellow Porsche folks. Car is described as "good condition, southern car. She originally had it for sale for $30k based on advice of the local Porsche Club members. She would take $25k for it," he says. For further details contact: Michael Schwarz at ms@michaelschwarz.com.

Car is sold

That was quick. I thought that was a decent deal on a 95 with 80k but not an outstanding deal. I am surprised it went that quickly, without a PPI I assume or even driving it.

or did the "Car is Sold" mean that it was sold before the posting even went up?

If you know, what was the final selling price? Just trying to keep in check with the market on 95 993's. Thanks.

William: nope, it wasn't sold when the posting went up, but closely thereafter. The woman's next-door-neighbor bought the car and her house either sometime yesterday or last night. I got an e-mail confirming that from Michael this morning.

Thanks.

William,

I thought same... 80K miles was an issue for me too but obviously not the new owner.

What kind of prices are you seeing on 95 993s that makes this only a decent deal? Based on what I have seen in the past 12 month, $25K for a 95 with 80K miles can be anything from a steal to a mugging depending on the condition of the car.

Just going from my opinion on what I have seen over about the last 3-6 months. I do think that 993 prices have dropped quite a bit in the last 6 months more so than over the 12 month period. I have seen some 95's in color's that I prefer more (ie. blue, black, grey) with 60k miles in that price range. Then I have seen some 95's in excellent shape with 30k to 40k miles in the 28k-31k range, probably closer to the 31k range though.

My greater point though was that I didn't think it was such an exceptional deal that it should be bought without PPI, etc. You get much below that though and, in my opinion, you could almost buy it without PPI.

I only know a little about the circumstances, but Michael had told me about two years ago that his father-in-law was a Porsche "nut," and that his car was bought at Hennessy Porsche in Atlanta and serviced regularly by them. When I was looking for a car then, the father-in-law referred me to a guy at Hennessy. I think the car was both a steal and a mugging. In hindsight, I wish I had known sooner.

How much did it actually sell for?
