Any Dorki's proximate to the northern DC suburbs that has a current Class A CDL license (commercial or non-commercial)?

If you asked me last month or 30 years prior. Just gave it up.

Out of curiosity, are you attempting to get a Class A yourself? I've thought about getting it just to have, but the way the rules are written, you need someone who already has it to drive your rig to the testing center...makes it difficult.

I've purchased a toter-home. Pursuing MD's non-commercial Class A, which will also allow me tow a trailer over 10K lbs. I'm already working with a coach (coming from Richmond VA area) this weekend to learn & practice pre-trip inspection, test maneuvers, and on-road driving. Looking for someone to drive with me to MVA for actual test.

Gotcha - let me know if you find someone, as I may look to do the same at some point.

Too bad I gave mine up. I used to train school bus drivers and took them for their test. Make sure you know what 6% grade really means.;) The tester up here in the mountains would fail you if you couldn't answer it properly. Do you have air brakes? The pre-trip for that rattled a few of our drivers too.

Had a lot of fun working with the coach last weekend. We spent a lot of time working on the pre-trip inspection; I'll be practicing A LOT before I go for the test. And my rig does have air brakes, though I don't plan to tow a trailer with them, only electric (so I can tow with the pickup too). I think I now know how to do the 3 tests of the air brakes, do the parking brake "tug", and check & drain water from the air tank. :D

We even spent some time towing my current trailer with the Toter, to make sure I could get out of the neighborhood.:lol:
