951 Fuel injectors & Fuel line replacement

My 944 Turbo is emitting fule fumes from the injectors & the fuel line from the regulators to the injector rail. I have gone to Intersport and they quoted me $1100 to repair. Is this ajob that could be done at home?

If so, I would appreciate anyones assistance on this project. I'm getting married on Sept. 3rd and money is tight. Plus I would love to learn how to do it.

How much will all the parts cost? Do you have a parts list? Is this a labor or parts expensive repair?

BTW I will need my FRS radio back for the coming weekend please.

It looks like the parts & labor are about even. I priced some injectors out for $110 a piece. The fuel line looks to be about $100 and some.

I have been driving around with your radio for some time. It is in the glove box of my car. The car is at Intersport. The detailing guys are always there. When do you need it?

I spoke to Kurt over the phone & he suggested that the problem could just be leaky fuel injector seals. How would I test this?

Here is Intersport's quote:

Replace fuel injectors $950.00
Replace fuel line from injector rail to regulator $210.00
60k service minus the oil and filter and spark plugs $496.00
Distributor cap and rotor $58.80 labor only, customer supply part. Add $90.00 for parts
Replace spark plug wire set, labor only $126.00. Add $209.00 for parts.

Kevin,
I just sent my 951 injectors to Marren Fuel Injectors, www.injector.com, and they match, clean and reseal your own injectors for $25 each. When they got mine, they determned that one of the injector bodies was leaking and had to be replaced. So for $75 for three injectors and $110 a new injector I was up an running. I highly recommend them. BTW, they typically take 2-days to turn them around.

Kevin,
A fuel fire will ruin your whole day, so best clean this up pronto!

- Steve's right. You can have your injectors cleaned, reseasled, and tested for a reasonable number.

- Replace the rail to damper line if Charlie says it needs replacing. Simple job.

- Its also worth replacing the fuel lines if they look even slightly suspect. Simple job.

You can go with stock replacements, or take a look at the aftermarket lines from http://www.pauertuning.com/fuel%20lines.htm and http://www.lindseyracing.com/Merchan...=944FUELLLINES

Do not delay. Fires from this source have destroyed plenty of 944s of all types.

Omar at Intersport sayes that rebuilt injectors will leak or not function for long. Is this true of BS to get my $?

Give me a day and I will get you the # for an injector rebuilder that is all he does and warranties his work. It will cost you about $20 per injector. If you need I have 9 that is right 9 injectors right now sitting in a bag in my garage that I was going to send to the same guy for repair. Get the Bosch part # off of your injectors and lets see if they match up.
