Sat March 26 Engine install and carb tune
John Hallen and I have decided that barring a major Dorki event conflict we will have a two for one Dorki project day at our houses. :D :D We'll do this on Saturday March 26 at 10 am with the installation of the engine/trans in my '77 and then move on to John's house (next door) for final tuning of his rebuilt carbs on the '69.
Fat pills and coffee in the am followed by beer and grilled stuff in the afternoon. :D I don't need any specific tools for the engine/trans installation (although several hands to help keep the engine/trans on the jack are welcome  ). John could use someone with carb tuning knowledge to help him set up the carbs correctly. Hope to see/meet some of you then. Thanks for all your help so far. Please PM me for directions/addresses. |
we've been dissed
Dave, starting to feel like we're the ugly redheaded stepchildren of the Dorkis? Not even one response :( . While Dave is competent to reinstall his engine with minimal assistance, he does hate to drink alone, hence his appeal for company. I, on the other hand am venturing into uncharted waters in rebuilding and tuning my Webers (never been there or done that). Thus I will exhibit the utmost in flexibility (days/nights/weekends/your place or mine, etc) in accomodating any WebHead who would care to give me a hand. you can contact me pm,

I can probably make it out. I think some of us are preoccupied with out of state PPI's and track prep for the next two weekends.
I just bought a nice 18" extension so it should make torquing the half shaft bolts a breeze. Where the hell is Brookville? Carbs? What's that? :) |
Steve's right - this is the beginning of the track season and there is a lot of stuff going on right now. I might be able to make it, too. I forgot all about this; sorry guys - sometimes the thread gets lots in all the traffic and just needs a bump to get new life.
Brookeville is just a bit east of 270 up near Gaithersburg. Close drive for me. I have no clue how to tune carbs, but I know how to drink them (in beer) ;). |

I can make it up to Brookeville to help empty some beer bottles for you! I would offer to help wrenching , but then again I'm just a novice when it comes to carb tuning :). I can bring the big guns to help you lift that motor back in though 8) . |

ROFL!
Remind me not to ever get in a smack battle with you guys. Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible. Sorry I couldn't make it out this weekend to the gathering that Pari put together. FWIW, Brookeville is about 3 miles North of Olney on Georgia Avenue MD Rt 97 (not I-97). |
I'm looking to get my "learn-on" in the carb department and barring any out of state activities I'll be on hand to observe and help w/ the heavy stuff.
|
I'm in. Let me know where.

Have truck, will try. Depends on weather and if I can deliver the boat to its new owner on Friday, the goal day.
Note: visited ARF today in the Paint hospital. Body work done, first primer coat on the body but not the bumper and other pieces. This is fast, she may be finished early next week!!! Then headliner, then home. :D |
